Lucio A. Carbone realizza copie di chitarre Torres, riprodotte minuziosamente nei loro dettagli, utilizzando spesso per la loro costruzione legni di vecchia data; quindi gli strumenti vengono "anticati" nell'aspetto con un lungo e paziente lavoro.
L'idea è nata per caso, con l'intenzione di fare un benevolo scherzo ad un noto chitarrista; la qualità del prodotto finale, non solo dal punto di vista estetico ma anche da quello della potenza e della qualità del suono, è stata così sorprendente che a L. A. Carbone sono giunte numerose ordinazioni per strumenti di questo tipo.
Il sistema di Torres è rispettato anche nelle fasi costruttive (la tavola armonica della chitarra fotografata è stata ricavata da quella di un pianoforte degli anni '20).
Il fondo è un bellissimo pezzo di palissandro, crepato in alcuni punti: le riparazioni eseguite nello stile tradizionale rendono ancora più verosimile l'"antichità" dello strumento: anche l'etichetta è copiata da quelle originali e corretta ad inchiostro.
Ecco due esemplari finiti, con la tavola armonica invecchiata sotto l'azione dei raggi ultravioletti e con gli strati della lucidatura a tampone accuratamente "rovinati", sporcati e ripassati per ricreare una patina di antichità: l'effetto finale è davvero sorprendente!
